PACKAGING MATERIAL WITH DOCUMENT HOLDER TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention relates to containers, packages or packages specially adapted for specific articles or materials; containers, packaging elements or packaging for content with specific transport problems; packaging that completely or partially encloses articles or materials.
More specifically, the present invention relates to a holder for enclosing one or more documents with a shipping package, to a method for manufacturing said packaging material with document holder and to a use of a holder for enclosing documents with a shipping package.
BACKGROUND
When shipping documents, packages or mail orders, it is important to enclose the shipping documents that provide information about the contents of a package or that state the correct addressee. Account must be taken of the circumstances in which such transmissions take place and in which the documents may possibly be damaged. To this end, packaging has been developed which allows the required documents to be enclosed in an effective manner.
A known way of sending packages or mail orders is by enclosing goods in a flexible packaging bag or flyer. Such mailing bags are for instance manufactured from a double, flexible polyethylene foil with a substantially rectangular shape, wherein three sides are connected to each other by means of a thermal weld and thus describe an enclosure. The opening of such shipping bags can be closed by means of a cover foil. In order to visibly enclose the shipping documents, the outside of the shipping bag is provided with a pouch or pouch which is formed by a rectangular, transparent foil which is bound to the shipping bag by means of a thermal seal at three peripheral edges. A containment for documents is thus provided. In order to prevent the shipping documents from falling out of the enclosure during transmission via the fourth, non-closed peripheral edge, a second transparent foil is provided according to the state of the art, which foil is also connected to the packaging bag by means of three peripheral edges by means of a thermal weld and overlaps with the first foil, such that the fourth, open peripheral edges of both overlapping transparent foils face each other. This ensures proper containment of the shipping documents during transport.
The material of this packaging material is preferably polyethylene for weight optimization. It is obvious that other polyolefins can also be used. Polyolefins according to the present invention are polymers (plastics) based exclusively on carbon and hydrogen, more particularly the polymers of light olefins, unsaturated hydrocarbons such as ethylene, propylene and butene. Instead of olefins, these substances are often referred to in the industry as olefins.
The most important polyolefins according to the invention are: polyethylene or polyethylene, polypropylene or polypropylene, polybutylene or poly (1-butene), polyisobutylene or polyisobutylene. The polyolefins also include copolymers of these monomers, for example ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) or copolymers of ethylene with acrylate esters.
Holders for attaching documents to a shipment further have one or more of the following shortcomings: (i) due to the specific construction of already existing document carriers, the legibility of the enclosed documents is often insufficient, so that for example address information cannot or cannot be read correctly; this is mainly a problem in view of the increasing automation and the associated use of an electronic reader; (ii) the documents must be enclosed and protected during shipment against possible damage and / or unwanted manipulation; (iii) existing containers have often been developed with intensive use of materials; and (iv) the loss of shipping documents cannot always or not always be adequately insured by prior art document holders. The current state of the art does not provide, or does not adequately, provide a solution for one or more of the above problems or shortcomings.
SUMMARY
The present invention seeks to completely or partially solve one or more of the aforementioned problems by providing a packaging material with document holder according to claim 1.
To this end, the invention provides in a first aspect a package for sending goods, comprising a packaging bag for enclosing goods and a pouch for enclosing shipping documents provided on said packaging bag, said packaging bag and said pouch being mainly made of polyethylene and wherein said pouch is formed by means of a transparent polyethylene foil comprising a plurality of peripheral edges, at least two of which are at least partially fixedly connected to opposite edges, e.g. a resealable connection for resealable opening and / or closing said pouch.
This offers the advantage that no multiplicity of overlapping, transparent films is used as is usual with document holders according to the prior art. The single, transparent film improves the readability of the information on the enclosed documents, which ultimately allows a higher automatic processability of the shipping packages when an electronic reader is used by correct reading of address information on the documents. This further has the advantage that the holder can be opened and closed several times without damaging the holder. This is a very important advantage when it is intended to reuse the packaging. The package according to the present invention can be used in this way at least several times, preferably at least five times, and more preferably at least ten times, even more preferably at least twenty times.
In a second aspect, the invention provides a method for manufacturing a package according to the first aspect of the invention, comprising the steps of co-extruding a polyethylene film thereby obtaining a packaging film, joining a transparent polyethylene film with said packaging film, and thermally welding and then cutting at least two opposite peripheral edges thereby obtaining a packaging bag, wherein also a reclosable connection is provided between said transparent polyethylene film and said packaging film.
In a third aspect, the invention provides a use of a package according to the first aspect of the invention, for enclosing one or more shipping documents with a packaging bag comprising one or more goods.

The citation of numerical intervals by the end points includes all integers, fractions and / or real numbers between the end points, including these end points.
In a first aspect, the invention provides a package for sending goods, comprising a packaging bag for enclosing goods and a pouch for enclosing shipping documents provided on said packaging bag, said packaging bag and said pouch being mainly made of polyethylene and wherein said pouch is formed by means of a transparent polyethylene foil comprising a plurality of peripheral edges, at least two of which are at least partially fixedly connected, for example by means of a thermal weld, to said packaging bag, said pouch having a reclosable connection on an edge describing the opening for resealable opening and / or closing said pouch.
The term "one or more shipping documents" is to be understood as one or more carriers with information, said carrier preferably comprising paper and / or an electronic carrier. Preferably, said information is printed on said paper and said information is a representation of one or more elements selected from the group comprising address data, payment information, product information, scan code, bar code, tag, QR code, and the like. Still preferably said information carrier is an electronic carrier on which one or more of said elements are provided and said electronic carrier is selected from the group comprising, but not limited to, RFID tag, electronic chip, magnetic stripe, and the like. The term "electronic carrier" used in the context of the present invention refers to any carrier of information that can display information through electronic tools. Still preferably, said electronic carrier comprises a positioning system for following the location and / or traveled route of said holder, such as, for example, but not limited to, a GPS system.
The term "foil" is to be understood as a layer in which the length and width can vary independently of each other and wherein the thickness of said layer is substantially, i.e. at least 90%, smaller than the length and width. Polyethylene is preferably used because of its intrinsic physical properties such as transparency, strength and flexibility and because of good industrial availability and because of suitability for industrial recyclability. Still preferably, both said packaging bag and said pouch are made of polyethylene. This offers the advantage that both materials can be thermally welded compatible. Preferably, said transparent polyethylene film comprises a sufficiently high transparency. Good transparency makes it possible to provide the readability of information on said documents, such as, for example, address data, with a sufficiently high quality.
The term "fixed connection" or "permanent connection" refers to a connection between two films, wherein said connection is realized by known binders, such as, for example, but not limited to, glue and / or thermal weld, or via mechanical anchoring. More specifically, a connection or connection is meant which cannot be broken without damage to the underlying materials. In a preferred embodiment, said fixed connections are provided by thermal welding or gluing, most preferably by thermal welding.
Further advantages of the present invention are that a simple construction is provided. As a result, the material consumption for said holder is minimal. This is important since packaging material usually has a relatively short lifespan. A considerable amount of waste can thus be avoided by the invention. Another advantage of a construction according to the present invention is that preferably only one layer of transparent polyethylene foil is provided for enclosing documents, so that the readability of, for example, address data is not prevented. A further advantage of the present invention is that due to the minimal use of materials, the choice of materials is increased, so that sufficiently strong materials can be selected which can ensure the protection of said documents against possible damage.
Figure 1 shows a schematic representation of a package (1) with indication of a packaging bag (2), one or more shipping documents (3), a transparent polyethylene film (4), a resealable connection (5) for resealable connection of said film ( 4) with said packaging bag (2) and a fixed connection or connection (6).
In a first advantageous embodiment, said resealable connection is formed by providing a binder or glue on said packaging bag, with above it an adhesive layer, such as for example a silicone layer, and wherein the adhesive layer is further covered by means of a non-adhesive, non-binding layer, such as, for example, a polypropylene film. Such a non-adhesive, non-binding layer is referred to in the art as a peel-N-seal layer. In a further or alternative advantageous embodiment, said resealable connection comprises a resealable glue, also referred to in professional jargon as "reclosable glue" or "resealable glue". The resealable adhesive may be applied to said packaging bag (2) and / or to said transparent polyethylene film (4), preferably on said transparent polyethylene film (4). Preferably, the resealable adhesive is applied as a predominantly linear strip or as a predominantly linear array of one or more consecutive resealable connection points.
In a preferred embodiment, the present invention provides a package according to the first aspect of the invention, wherein said package bag is provided with a landing strip at an edge describing the aperture, the surface of said landing strip being characterized by an increased surface tension relative to the surrounding surface, as preferably determined by ISO 8296: 2003. ISO 8296: 2003 describes a method for determining the surface tension of the surface of plastic film or foil in contact with drops of specific test solutions. The ability of plastic films to withstand inks, coatings or adhesives, such as, for example, glue, is primarily dependent on the nature of the surface of such films. This ability can be improved by one of the various surface treatment techniques, such as, for example, a corona treatment and / or a plasma treatment. It is therefore possible to relate the surface tension of a plastic film surface to the ability to incorporate inks, coatings, adhesives, etc. According to the above-mentioned preferred embodiment, said landing strip is a strip with improved properties for binding with an adhesive.
In a more preferred embodiment, the difference in surface tension between said landing strip and said surrounding surface is at least 1 Dyne or 1 mN / m, and preferably at least 2 Dyne. More preferably, said surface tension difference is 3 Dyne or more and even more preferably 4 Dyne or more. Most preferably, said difference in surface tension is 5 Dyne or more. In a further embodiment, said surface tension difference can assume any value ranging from 5 Dyne, 10 Dyne, 15 Dyne, 20 Dyne, 25 Dyne, 30 Dyne, 35 Dyne, 40 Dyne, 45 Dyne or 50 Dyne, or any value in between .
In a preferred embodiment, the present invention provides a package according to the first aspect of the invention, wherein said packaging bag also comprises a foil wrap, wherein said foil wrap is suitable to overlap at least partially, but preferably completely, with said landing strip in the closed position.
Said landing strip can be obtained, for example, by subjecting the provided zone or strip to a surface treatment, such as, for example, a corona treatment and / or a plasma treatment, to increase the surface tension. In a preferred form, said landing strip is obtained by applying a coating or varnish layer to said polyethylene foil. The aim is therefore to achieve a rougher and / or more polar surface with better adhesion properties to adhesives. This offers the advantage that a permanent connection can be obtained when resealing said packaging bag. Generally, such a permanent connection can be expected to come into contact with said film wrap with said landing strip for a period of less than 1 minute, and preferably for a period of less than 30 seconds. Even more preferably for a period of less than 5 seconds and most preferably for a period of less than 2 seconds. The packaging bag can thus be sealed, as it were. As a result, the packaging bag can no longer be opened without causing substantial or visible damage to the packaging, whereby a visual evaluation can be made to estimate whether or not the packaging has been opened after sealing.
In a preferred embodiment, said film wrap on the cover side, which is suitable for contacting with said landing strip, provided with an adhesive, which is preferably shielded by means of a peel-N-seal layer, is suitable as at least temporary protection of said adhesive . Such an adhesive may, for example, be comprised of a pressure sensitive hot melt adhesive. Such an adhesive is preferably provided as a series of multiple, predominantly linearly arranged, binding strips. Preferably said adhesive has a softening point between 50 ° C and 100 ° C, and more preferably between 60 ° C and 90 ° C, and even more preferably between 70 ° C and 85 ° C, measured according to ASTM E 28. Most preferably, said softening point is located at 72 ° C, 74 ° C, 76 ° C, 78 ° C, 80 ° C or 82 ° C, or any value in between. Also preferably said adhesive has a viscosity at 160 ° C between 1000 mPa.s and 10000 mPa.s, and more preferably between 2000 mPa.s and 5000 mPa.s, and even more preferably between 3000 mPa.s and 3800 mPa.s, measured according to ASTM D 3236. Most preferably, said viscosity at 160 ° C is located at 3000 mPa.s, 3200 mPa.s, 3400 mPa.s, 3600 mPa.s, 3800 mPa.s, or every value in between.
The use of a 'peel-N-seal' layer offers the advantage that the layer can be easily removed for releasing said adhesive on the film wrapper, wherein said packaging bag can then be sealed by pressing said film wrapper with adhesive on said landing strip. , with the inclusion of one or more shipping goods in said packaging bag.
Figure 4 shows a schematic representation of a package (1) with a landing strip (8) and cover film (9) provided with a peel-N-seal layer (10). By removing said peel-N-seal layer (10) layer, the adhesive on the cover film (9) is released. In an advantageous embodiment, said adhesive can cure through exposure and / or contact with air and thus form a permanent glue. The cover film (9) can then be wrapped along the broken line, whereby the adhesive lands on the landing strip (8). Within a relatively short time, order of a few seconds, a permanent connection is then established, and thus the packaging bag sealed.
In a further embodiment, said open end of said packaging bag is also provided with a second adhesive strip with a peel-N-seal layer. This offers the advantage that when the said packaging is reused, for instance for a second, subsequent shipment or a return shipment, the packaging bag can be adequately closed by means of a new adhesive strip. In a similar way, a third, fourth, fifth, etc. adhesive strip can be provided for multiple consecutive transmissions. This offers the important advantage that the packaging can be reused and that shipments can easily be forwarded or returned.
In a preferred embodiment, the present invention provides a package according to the first aspect of the invention, wherein said resealable connection comprises a resealable adhesive, or denoted by the English term "recloseable glue".
The term "resealable connection" or "resealable bond" is to be understood as a closure or closure that can be opened and re-closed multiple times without thereby causing substantial damage to the component parts of the closure, respectively said transparent polyethylene film (4) and said packaging bag (2).
This further has the advantage that the container can be opened and closed several times without damaging the package. This is a very important advantage when it is intended to reuse the packaging. The package according to the present invention can be used in this way at least several times, preferably at least five times, and more preferably at least ten times, even more preferably at least twenty times.
Figure 3 shows a schematic representation of a package (1) according to the first aspect of the invention, wherein a resealable connection is provided with a peel-N-seal layer (7) suitable as at least temporary protection of the resealable binding for resealable opening and / or closing the pouch of the package. At the peripheral edges of the transparent polyethylene film (4), said polyethylene film (4) is connected to the packaging bag (2) by means of permanent or fixed connections (6). The documents (3) can be placed under said polyethylene film (4) and can be read through the transparent film (4).
Still more preferably, the adhesive composition of said resealable adhesive comprises a component suitable for at least partially curing the adhesive, for example after contact with air and / or light, and through which curing the resealable adhesive can form a permanent connection, preferably when in contact coming with a landing strip, wherein the landing strip preferably has an increased surface tension relative to the surrounding surface.
In a preferred embodiment, the present invention provides a package according to the first aspect of the invention, wherein said resealable connection is comprised of a continuous or discontinuous pattern, the discontinuous pattern preferably being composed of a series of two or more adhesive zones (5) ) which are arranged substantially linearly.
In a preferred embodiment, the present invention provides a package according to the first aspect of the invention, wherein the ends of said resealable connection extend up to the fixed connection at the peripheral edges between transparent film and packaging bag. This offers the advantage that no interruption is formed at the peripheral edges when they are formed, for example, by means of thermal welding. Namely, such interruptions form a potential source for material breakage or cracks of the thermal weld or alternative connection.
In a preferred embodiment, the present invention provides a package according to the first aspect of the invention, wherein said resealable connection is provided with a central strip which is free from said resealable glue. The term "central strip" is to be understood as a strip which is approximately, and preferably mainly, centrally located, i.e. overlaps with the central point between the two peripheral edges which pass through the first and second end of the resealable connection marked as. Preferably, the length of said central strip is between 5% and 50% of the full width of the reclosable connection, and more preferably between 10% and 25%. This offers the advantage that the pouch for shipping documents can be easily opened. In a further preferred embodiment, the present invention provides a package according to the first aspect of the invention, wherein said resealable connection is provided before the peripheral edges and thus does not overlap with said peripheral edges. This offers the advantage that the resealable connection does not interrupt the permanent bond between said polyethylene film and said packaging bag. Such interruptions can in fact lead to an insufficient or easily breakable bond between the transparent polyethylene film and the packaging bag. Preferably, the resealable connection is provided so that the distance between the closest point of said resealable connection and said peripheral edge is greater than 0.1 cm and less than 5.0 cm, more preferably greater than 0.2 cm and less than 3.0 cm and most preferably larger than 0.5 cm and smaller than 2.0 cm. Preferably, said packaging bag is printed with ink at the level of the resealable connection, so that the resealable connection is visually indicated, which enhances the ease of use. Furthermore, said central strip is also indicated by means of ink printing on said packaging bag, preferably with instructions for resealable opening and closing of said pouch.
Figure 2 shows a schematic representation of a packaging material (1) with reclosable connections for connecting a transparent foil (4) to said shipping bag or packaging bag (2). The resealable connection is here an adhesive strip from a series of two adhesive zones (5). The transparent film is free from adhesive centrally and approximately halfway, so that the resealable connection can be easily opened by an operator.
In a preferred embodiment, the present invention provides a package according to the first aspect of the invention, wherein said package bag comprises a three-layer co-extrusion polyethylene. Preferably, said three-layer polyethylene is formed by co-extrusion of one gray layer and two white layers, the white layer being provided on the outside of the packaging bag. The white polyethylene layer on the outside is preferably subjected to a surface treatment, such as, for example, a corona treatment, in order to be able to realize printing with ink. As a result, for example, instructions for use, company logos and / or product information can be displayed on the packaging bag.
In a preferred embodiment, the present invention provides a package according to the first aspect of the invention, wherein said resealable connection is provided with means for identifying the opening and / or closing of said pouch, for example by means of an invisible ink. This offers the advantage that access to the shipping documents can be identified, which is advantageous, for example, to identify, but not exclusively, unauthorized access to the documents. The multiple opening and closing of the resealable connection will, for example, ensure that the invisible ink present in the resealable connection will be distributed at multiple locations on the packaging bag, after which such prints can be identified by corresponding visualization techniques, such as, for example, but not limited to the use of ultraviolet light, chemical reaction and / or thermal reaction,
In a preferred embodiment, the present invention provides a package according to the first aspect of the invention, wherein said edges of said transparent film are provided with a series of two or more consecutive connection points between said transparent polyethylene film and said packaging bag. This offers the advantage that less binder must be used when a binder is used instead of a thermal weld.
In a preferred embodiment, the present invention provides a package according to the first aspect of the invention, wherein a plurality of edges of said transparent film are connected to said packaging bag via a thermal seal. This offers the advantage that a strong, watertight connection can be formed.
In a preferred embodiment, the present invention provides a package according to the first aspect of the invention, wherein said package bag comprises a three-layer co-extrusion polyethylene film with a total thickness of less than 60 µm. This offers the advantage that minimal use of plastic material is required, which is advantageous both as material saving and weight saving. This offers both an ecological and economic advantage in the production of the packages and an energetic advantage in use during transport. Preferably said total thickness of the co-extrusion polyethylene film is less than 55 µm, and even more preferably less than 50 µm.
In a preferred embodiment, the present invention provides a package according to the first aspect of the invention, wherein said transparent polyethylene film has a thickness of less than 50 µm. This also offers both an ecological and economic advantage in production and an energy benefit in use during transport. Preferably, said thickness of the transparent polyethylene film is less than 40 µm, and even more preferably less than 20 µm.
In a preferred embodiment, the present invention provides a method according to the second aspect of the invention, wherein the surface of said polyethylene film is pre-treated for printing, for example by means of a corona treatment. This offers the advantage that the surface can be prepared to allow printing with ink. Thus, company logos, product information, and the like can be provided on said packaging.
In a preferred embodiment, the present invention provides a method according to the second aspect of the invention, wherein the surface tension of at least one surface strip of said packaging film is increased, preferably by coating a varnish layer, thereby obtaining a landing strip. Said landing strip is preferably located along the approximately half circumference of the opening of the packaging bag, and opposite to said cover film. Alternative methods make it possible to increase said surface tension by means of plasma treatment and / or by means of corona treatment.
In a third aspect, the invention provides a use of a package according to the first aspect of the invention, for enclosing one or more shipping documents with a packaging bag comprising one or more goods.
In a preferred embodiment, the present invention provides a use according to the third aspect of the invention, wherein said shipping documents (3) provide information about the content and / or sender of said mail delivery.
